At an event in New York City on Thursday, Microsoft unveiled additions to the surface line of computers. Surface Pro Pro and Surface Computer arrive with Copilot+ PC certificate. The program was announced in May 2024, the program aims to identify devices that focus on business that was specially designed for the company’s AI platform, Copilot.
It is an attempt to integrate AI from Microsoft AI deeper into the Windows 11 experience. New surfaces arrive in the post -COPILOT+ PCS flood, including those in Acer, ASUS, DELL, HP and Lenovo. Copilot+ specifically refers to the inclusion of the nerve treatment unit (NPU), which allows many features such as live translation, super accuracy, summons, and implementing studio studios on the device.
Both devices are shipped either the Intel Core Ultra (Series 2) processor or Snapdragon X. Earlier this month in CES, Qualcomm has unveiled plans to bring Snapdragon 4nm chip to medium -range systems. The extended battery life and low price point are the main advantages of the processor on the Intel option. In fact, Qualcomm is a “multi -day use” for one charge compared to 22 hours of Intel. However, the initial barter is a decrease in system performance – although Surface Corporate VP Brett Ostrum tells Techcrunch that Copilot should remain. Big is not affected.
Copilot is the main axis of both configurations. For Snapdragon, this means an eight -core processor with a loyal NPU specifically designed to manage the burdens of artificial intelligence. Meanwhile, Series 2 Intel Core is said to perform a performance of 28 % of the CPU and 98 % Patch Performance Performance.

Later this year, the surface laptop computer will get 5G option for the first time. This connection is the key to the play that combines local artificial intelligence account with the treatment -based treatment.
Most current artificial intelligence platforms require more resources than consumables can provide, which requires emptying the work burden into remote servers. But Deepseek this week has turned the spotlight to lighter weight and more focused models that can work on devices. The Chinese AI Running Strategy includes “drops” versions of the R1 AI model that is able to operate on a laptop. Likewise, Apple has based on the Apple Intelligence platform on smaller models that can be operated locally.
It is clear that Microsoft is interested in providing more artificial intelligence experiences on the device as well. However, it is very similar to Apple intelligence, many Copilot operations require more powerful devices than they can be crammed currently in a laptop. Adding 5G is an attempt to create a fixed level of connection to ensure that Copilot Information does not appear empty due to the inability to reach servers remotely.

Surface Pro for Business features a 13 -inch screen with an OLED option and a built -in NFC reader to use safety switches including those in Yubikey. The surface laptop comes in 13.8 and 15 -inch options.
Both Intel Core starts from $ 1500. It is a $ 400 bonus on Snapdragon devices, which mainly target consumers – although it is clear that it can be published to work as needed, as well as the 5G version of the surface laptop, at the same time, will be available later in 2025. Announcing pricing this later.

The line also gets a new USB4 berth, at $ 200. Hub features USB-C, USB-A, Eternet and HDMI ports. It arrives on February 18, along with the surface laptop and Surface Pro.
