Technology companies may be vocal for their love for advanced nuclear energy – the cheerful trend that was naturalizing the energy sector – but they continue to add renewable energy.
Meta has recently signed a deal with the Zilestra renewable Spanish developer for 595 MW of solar energy in Texas, just two weeks after signing a separate solar deal with the Facilities Company. It is an important purchase of technology, and it represents approximately 5 % of the bump to Gigawatts, which is more than 12 years of renewable capacity that is currently under the contract.
This advertisement comes at a time when the CEO of Meta Mark Zuckerberg maintains the ambitious AI strategy – which will require huge capital investments in data centers.

Nuclear power plants take years for construction, and the most recently advanced crop of commercial reactors has not yet been proven. Natural gas power plants are slightly faster.
It is not possible to compete with renewable publishing speed.
The solar energy farm can be brought online within 18 months, and because technology is normative, parts of the power plant can begin to connect the power before connecting the last plate.
