On Sunday, Washington President Donald Trump issued an executive order directing the federal government to overcome water management practices in California if it turns out to be ineffective.
This comes two days after Trump’s visit to Los Angeles, which was destroyed by a series of forest fires.
Trump falsely claimed that the Democratic Governor Gavin New Off and other officials refused to provide water from the northern part of the state to fight fires.
Federal agencies are directed to “taking action immediately to overcome current activities that make unjustified efforts to increase water delivery operations to the maximum.”
The American Reclamation Office orders the connection of more water and hydroelectric energy through Central Valley (Nasdaq 🙂 Project, a network of dams, channels and other infrastructure, even if it contradicts government or local laws.
He also orders the White House budget office to see if he can attach conditions on federal aid to the state to ensure cooperation.
It is not clear whether these changes will enhance the capabilities of firefighting in California. Delivery of water during the height of the disaster caused dehydration in some parts of Los Angeles, but local officials say this was not designed to deal with such a huge catastrophe.
The newsom office did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
