The main opposition party said that Seoul (Reuters) -The main opposition party said that the South Korean prosecutors accused President Yun Suk Yol on Sunday for a rebellion leadership with a short -term imposition of martial martial rulings on December 3.

Unprecedented charges for a South Korean president, and if convicted, Yoon may face years in prison because of his decree in the fighting law, which sought to prohibit political and parliamentary activity and control of the media.

His step was based on a wave of political turmoil in the fourth largest economy in Asia and a major American ally, as the Prime Minister was also isolated and suspended from power and a number of senior military officials who accused their roles in the alleged rebellion.

The prosecutors office did not immediately respond to the suspension requests. The indictment was also reported by the South Korean media.

Last week, anti -corruption investigators recommended accusing Yun Al -Masjoun, which was isolated by Parliament and attached to his duties on December 14.

One of the senior prosecutors was the same year, Yoon was in solitary confinement since he became the first seated president to be arrested on January 15, after the armed confrontation between his security details and officials.

During the weekend, the court rejected the request of the prosecutors twice to extend his detention during more investigations, but with the charges that they again requested to be held, the media reported.

Yun’s lawyers urged the prosecutors to be released immediately from what they call an illegal nursery.

The rebellion is one of the few criminal charges that the South Korean president does not suffer from immunity. He is punished with imprisonment or death, although South Korea has not executed anyone for decades.

“The prosecution has decided to accuse Yun Suk Yol, who is accused of being a leader of the rebellion,” the Democratic Party spokesman Han Min said at a press conference. “The punishment for the rebel leader now finally begins.”

Yun and his lawyer argued in a hearing of a constitutional court last week in the dismissal trial that he had never intended to impose martial laws completely, but he only meant measures as a warning to break the political stalemate.

In parallel with his criminal operation, the Supreme Court will determine whether Yun will be removed from his position or his presidential powers, with 180 days.

South Korea’s parliament isolated Yun on December 14, which made him the second governor to be isolated in the country.

Yun canceled the combat events after about six hours after the lawmakers voted, and they faced soldiers in Parliament, on the decree.

The soldiers were seen with guns, physical shields and night vision equipment, entering the parliament building through the shattered windows during the dramatic confrontation.

If Yun is removed from his post, presidential elections will be held within 60 days.
