Mercado, 23, stunned Pedraza with a left hook followed by a pinpoint right hand behind the ear to send him to the canvas. Pedraza was slow to get up, and when he did, she stumbled a little. The referee, Robert Howell, took one look at him and stopped the fight. The time was 2:08 of the fourth.
The difference in size and power or Mercado was too much for Pederza, who could not match him. Pedraza looked like he was afraid to get the whole fight and let Mercado land the most shots in the one-sided contest.
After the fight, Mercado called Shakur Stevenson, saying he wanted him next. Shakur didn’t seem keen on the crowd wanting to mess with this young talent.
